Be there or be square! “We will be competing in patrols to see whichever patrol collects the most bags full of trash. The patrol with the most bags of trash will earn a special prize to go on their patrol flag!” -Abby Kaufman (ooh-awe!)

This is an AWESOME opportunity to give back to our community, spend time with your fellow scouts/friends, and even earn service hours all the while!

Wow! Super excited to share that we, Troop 7272, collected a total of 6,331 POUNDS OF CLOTHING during this year’s Clothing Fundraiser! That’s $1900 to the troop! WOOT WOOT!!

Huge Shoutouts to:

• The DeJong’s for their kind hearts and for opening their home to house ALL the bags and bags of stuff!
• Mr. Ulibarri for being kind enough to take some more valuable items (designer clothing and leather jackets) and selling them online to collect another $113!
• Troop 727 for the clothing they donated to us

(Must be at least 13 ½ years old.)

Started in 1979, the United State Congress Congressional Award recognizes and promotes initiative, service, and achievement in young people.  Through goal setting and record keeping, entries are submitted with the help of an advisor of a youth’s achievements.   There are four main areas of achievements to be journaled that highlight different goals, learning moments and accomplishments.  These areas are shown above.

Each of these, are things that we ALREADY do in Scouting!  This is not a BSA award but a non-partisan federal government award.  While the Congressional Award cannot be used for past achievements, it doesn’t take that long to rack up the hours, months and journal entries to start earning this nationally recognized honor.  More information can be found at www.congressionalwaward.org
